Val Winkle

Walburga M. “Val” Winkle, 84, a resident of Parkside Court, passed from this life at 7 a.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014, at her home.

Born in Winterberg, Germany, May 15, 1930, Mrs. Winkle was the daughter of Joseph Clemens and Anna Leber Rossel. She married Marvin “Wink” Winkle March 20, 1956. He preceded her in death November 15, 1988.

Mrs. Winkle became a United States citizen October 23, 1981.

She was a proud sales clerk at Sears, retiring after 45 years of service, and after retirement was a volunteer at Columbus Regional Hospital.

She was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and had a special love in her heart for animals.

Val was a sweet-spirited person and she was loved by her many friends.

Survivors include a sister, Beate Shaw of England; a brother-in-law, Jim Ditz of Tampa, FL; nephews, Michael (Chris) Dietz of Wesley Chapel, FL, Curtis Ditz of Clearwater, FL, and William Ditz of Albuquerque, NM; local family members, Brent and Becky Church of Columbus; and several great-nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating.

Family and friends may call from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church.

A committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Dale Cemetery in Connersville with Father Stanley Herber officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
