The 17th annual Empty Bowls event raised slightly more than $10,000 for local food pantries. Homemade soups, chili, breads and desserts were served Saturday evening at Central Middle School.
Funds raised support the Love Chapel food pantry, Community Center of Hope food bank, Eastside Community Center and Turning Point Domestic Violence Services. Last year’s event raised more than $12,000.
“We heard nothing but great things about the event,” said event coordinator SaraBeth Drybread.
