Columbus Fire Department received $248,316 from the Department of Homeland Security to be used for operations and firefighter safety.

1990

Lincoln Probst, Tod Smith and Kimberly R. Sutton of Columbus East High School and C. Kevin Marshall, J. Craig Ruble, Matthew Stevens and Tamara M. Stone of Columbus North were named finalists in the National Merit Scholarship competition.

1965

A 2-inch accumulation of freezing rain turned to shiny ice and was blamed for 12 traffic accidents. Weather forecasts called for 4 inches of snow to fall on top of the ice.
