Police: Area teen charged in assault

A Elizabethtown teen is accused of committing multiple sexual assaults on a girl, starting nearly two years ago when she was in middle school.

William A. Connor, 17, of East Legal Tender Road, was waived into adult court after being charged with two counts of criminal deviate conduct as Class B felonies.

Criminal charges were filed against Conner in Bartholomew Superior Court 1, and he was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail at 6:27 p.m. Friday. Connor was still being held Monday held in lieu of a $250,000 surety or $25,000 cash bond, jail officials said.

The girl told investigators the molestations began in the summer of 2013, according to a probable-cause affidavit filed by Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Detective Kevin Abner.

The girl told Abner she was assaulted on a number of occasions the summer after she had completed seventh grade and in April and May of last year, the affidavit stated. She told police she was struck during the assaults, the affidavit stated.

Conner denied that and said the girl struck him, Abner wrote.

If convicted of both felony charges, Connor could be sentenced to 12 to 40 years in prison and fined up to $20,000.
