George W. Pfaffenberger, 91, died March 5, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, IN.

George was born on November 10, 1923, to G. William and Gaynell (Breitfield) Pfaffenberger in Indianapolis. He grew up on a farm near Seymour and graduated from Seymour High School in 1941. A lifelong entrepreneur, George was best known as a home builder and developer in the Seymour area. However, he started his career as an excavator and later was the developer of a restaurant chain.

George was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of Seymour Elks Lodge. In earlier years he was active in the Republican Party, holding the positions of Jackson County Republican Chairman and Ninth District Republican Chairman and serving on the Indiana Republican Finance Committee.

He is survived by his wife, Colleta Jo (Prewitt) Pfaffenberger; two sons, George W. “Bill” (Jane) Pfaffenberger of Avon, IN, and Wallace M. (Gail) Pfaffenberger of Seymour; two stepchildren, Wendy (Darin) Johnson of Seymour and Matthew (Michelle) Waskom of Charlotte, NC; and his sister, Beverly Abner of Indianapolis. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Norma Douthit, and a brother, Richard Pfaffenberger.

A memorial service will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, March 28, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Seymour, with the Rev. Mike Seaney officiating.
