Bobby Lee Jones, 80, of Columbus, died at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015, at his home.

Born February 21, 1935, in Columbus, he was the son of Carl David and Helen Davis Jones. He married Beverly Kay Smith November 11, 1967 in Hope. She preceded him in death March 3, 2013.

Bobby retired after 29 years from Cummins Engine Company where he worked on the rod line. He was a member of Revival Tabernacle Church in Clifford, enjoyed NASCAR, IU basketball and especially enjoyed his garden and flowers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Revival Tabernacle Church in Clifford with Brother Eli Johnson officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 10 a.m. Thursday until service time at the church. Burial with military rites will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Survivors include sons, Keith A. Jones of Whiteland, Indiana, Kevin Wise of Taylorsville and David Jones of Columbus; daughters, Kathy Boice of Paoli, Indiana, Shelia (Tom) Gray of Hope, Angela Hoover of Columbus and Kim (Bobby) Aldridge of Taylorsville; sisters, Mary H. Smith and Patricia Ann Hardin, both of Columbus; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Carl “Bud” Jones; and his beloved Dachshund, Little Bit Jones.
