Flood warnings in effect Sunday

Bartholomew County Emergency Management has issued flood warning updates for the Flat Rock and Driftwood rivers.

A flood warning has been issued for the Flat Rock River in Columbus from Sunday morning to Sunday evening.

At 10:30 a.m. Friday, the Flat Rock River was at 6.7 feet and flood stage is 11 feet. By Sunday morning, the Flat Rock could reach 11.2 feet and then fall below flood stage by early Sunday afternoon.

Minor flooding is forecast, said Dennis Moats, emergency management director.

The Driftwood River near Edinburgh has a flood warning from Sunday afternoon to late Monday night.

At 10:30 a.m. Friday, the Driftwood River was at 7.5 feet and flood stage is 11 feet. The Driftwood is expected to rise to near 11.3 feet by early Monday morning and fall below flood stage by early Monday afternoon.
