Three Columbus Police Athletic League boxers, Seth Caffee, 15; Sergio Gonzalez, 15; and Alex Stillabower, 12, competed in the Indiana Junior Golden Gloves Tournament.

1990

Investigators reported that a spark from an overloaded electrical wire exposed after the insulation around it melted set off a fireball that roared through the attic, broke through the roof and eventually destroyed the Big Blue Store.

1965

To keep pace with telephone growth in the area, Indiana Bell Telephone Co. started a $26,000 equipment installation project in the Hope telephone building, adding 200 more telephone numbers and providing 12 more voice circuits between Hope and Columbus.
