Gateway Apartments groundbreaking postponed

Thrive Alliance has postponed a planned groundbreaking today for Gateway Apartments because of weather concerns.

The agency will serve as manager for the proposed $10.2 million, 60-unit, affordable-housing complex being built by Jonesboro Investments on the eastern 4.5 acres of the former Golden Foundry in Columbus.

The project site is located on 10th Street and Cottage Avenue.

Jonesboro is in the process of trying to purchase the western 8.3 acres of the foundry site with plans to build up to 200 apartments in addition to the 60 that are planned already.

A new date for the groundbreaking was not immediately announced.
