2 Republican, 1 Democrat at-large candidates will advance

Two at-large Columbus City Council candidates will advance from the four-candidate May 5 Republican primary. Contenders include incumbent Kenny Whipker and challengers Laurie Booher, Charles Doup and Debbie Kramer. For voters who choose to vote in the Democratic primary, newcomer Tom Dell will be unopposed.

Whipker, 59, is the executive director for sheriff and county jail operations at the Indiana Department of Correction.

Booher, 51, is a business owner.

Doup, 75, is a retired businessman.

Kramer, 59, is a restaurant owner.

Dell, 60, is a business owner.
