For the sixth time, Business Ethics Magazine named Cummins Inc. the nation’s best corporate citizen based on environmental commitment, progressive thinking and support of employees, education and community.

More than 500 people attended the dedication and toured the new $7.4 million dollar Bartholomew County Jail, capping a decade of discussion, planning and construction marked by haggling over the jail’s location, cost and design.

Firefighters believed a bird carrying a lit cigarette into its nest may have caused a fire that destroyed a barn on State Road 46 west of Columbus.
