Letter: Ice arena renovation a community effort

From: Kim Wilson-Bickers

Columbus

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the city of Columbus, the Columbus City Council, the Columbus Park Foundation, Jim Henderson and Eric Neal for providing us with a beautifully renovated Hamilton Center Ice Arena. Our facility now boasts a new roof, energy-efficient lighting, accessible and contemporary restrooms, and refurbished, welcoming meeting areas thanks to the leadership of those above named and the charitable giving of our community.

Hamilton Center Ice Arena is truly a jewel in our community crown. But not just a beautiful community meeting space and recreational attraction, our rink is thriving and active with growing parks and rec hockey and figure-skating classes, club and high school state and competition-winning travel teams, and a Lincoln Center Figure Skating Club whose members test and compete at the local, state and national level.

As ice show co-chair and current LCSC board member, I’d like to invite the community to see our beautiful ice arena and attend the best ice show in the area, presented annually by our LCSC and parks and rec skaters Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Over 140 skaters will perform in this year’s show. “Ice! Camera! Action!” It will feature tunes from present and past popular playlists and feature our talented soloists and high school seniors.

Our LCSC is fortunate to employ three coaches, each with over 30 years of experience coaching our skaters. Our show boasts the custom and beautiful costumes of our very own designer. This year we have the privilege of an exhibition skate from a past LCSC member and the current Senior Regional ladies champion. Do not miss this chance to see this community event.
