East, Brown County split dual meet

NASHVILLE — The Columbus East boys and Brown County girls dominated Tuesday night, as the teams split a dual track meet.

The Olympian boys won 15 of the 16 events and rolled to a 101-27 victory. The Eagle girls took 14 events in a 92-40 victory.

Steven O’Neal led the East boys with wins in the long jump (20 feet, 10 1/2 inches), 400 meters (53.3 seconds) and 200 (23.5). Sam Dwenger took the 110 hurdles (21.5) and 300 hurdles (47.7)

Other individual winners for the Olympians were Matt Buffo in the pole vault (11-1), Josiah Edwards in the high jump (6-0), Aaron Kruchten in the shot put (46-3), Rhett Myers in the discus (137-6), Trent Weaver in the 100 (11.3), Paul Bean in the 1,600 (4:43) and T.C. O’Neal in the 800 (2:12). East swept the 3,200 (9:33), 400 (44.6) and 1,600 (4:42) relays.

Brown County’s Eddie Ryan won the 3,200 in 10:37.

Emily Brady won the pole vault (10-6), long jump (16-2) and 100 hurdles (16.0) to lead the Eagle girls. Kathleen McCann broke a 27-year-old school record with a 12.4 clocking in the 100 and also took the 200 in 27.8.

Also for Brown County, Corissa Proctor won the 1,600 (5:57) and 800 (2:34). Jalynn Stanford took the high jump (5-0), Andi Smith captured the shot put (32-11), Rose Guingrich won the 400 (1:04), Vivien Crimmins took the 300 hurdles (50.6) and the Eagles swept the 3,200 (10:28), 400 (51.2) and 1,600 (4:21) relays.

East’s wins came from Seena Greiwe in the discus (95-0) and Kira Singer in the 3,200 (13:17).
