Reen Family Singers ready to harmonize

Reen Family Singers seem almost accustomed to standing ovations and a flood of accolades, if the group’s website at reenfamilysingers.com is any indication.

Guided by parents Stephen and Sophie Reen, both accomplished musicians well known to Columbus audiences, the group has performed at events ranging from arts functions to weddings in several states. The group will perform a concert at 2 p.m. Friday as part of the Afternoon for the Arts at Columbus’ Mill Race Center, 900 Lindsey St.

The event will include desserts by Caryn Wiggins of Desserts Etc. Tickets are $5 for Mill Race Center members and $10 for non-members.

Pianist Stephen Reen has been recognized as one of the top five group piano teachers in the country by the Music Teachers National Association. He earned a doctorate in music from Indiana University. And cellist Sophie Reen, with a master’s degree from IU, has performed with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, the Colorado Festival Orchestra and other ensembles.
