Summer acting, creative training workshop for youth

The Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center is sponsoring a new program, ACT, for children this summer.

ACT, which stands for Acting and Creative Training, is an eight-week workshop for two groups: youth entering Grades 4 through 6 and Grades 7 and 8. Participants will receive basic theater instruction from professional actors.

Lead instructor Jill Tasker has 25 years of experience as a professional actor in New York City and Los Angeles. She has performed off-Broadway, on Broadway, and on television and has done many voice-overs for commercials. She is a performance coach, training students, corporate executives and radio DJs and others how to speak and perform more effectively in their schools, organizations and workplaces.

Sessions will be conducted Mondays from June 8 through July 27 at Columbus’ YES Cinema, Fourth and Jackson streets. Grades 4 through 6 will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. and Grades 7 and 8 will meet from 2 to 3 p.m.

Participation is free for children residing in the Lincoln-Central Neighborhood. Fees for non-Lincoln-Central residents are $80 total for the eight-week class. Space is limited.
