Donald S. Shearer, 75, of Columbus, passed from this life at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, June 11, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born August 5, 1939, in Scottsburg, Indiana, Mr. Shearer was the son of Marion S. and Helen L. Uebel Shearer. He married Dottie Holland May 2, 1964.
Mr. Shearer had been a member of the Indiana National Guard.
He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1995 after 34 years of service. After retirement, he worked for Claas of America for 11 years.
Mr. Shearer was a member of Bethel Holiness Church and served as president of the Jefferson County Holiness Camp for 42 years.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dottie; his son, Darin (Amy) Shearer of Hope; granddaughters, McKendra and McKiah Shearer of Hope; and sisters, Norma Sue (Don) Hall of Crothersville, Caroline (Gilbert) Hall of Greenwood, and Becky (Tom) Whitmer of Westfield.
Mr. Shearer was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Revs. Nathan Shockley and Robert Thompson Sr. officiating.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday.
A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Little York Cemetery in Washington County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Holiness Camp.
