David S. Harris, 75, of Westport, Indiana, died at 9:44 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 2015, at his home.

Mr. Harris was born June 17, 1940, in Vinton, Virginia, the son of the late Albert C. and Eunice Minott Harris.

He married Sharon Kay Penrose on August 15, 1970, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, and she survives.

Mr. Harris retired from Arvin Industries where he was manager of computer automated design.

He was a hand radio amateur and enjoyed woodworking, model trains, music and building muzzleloading guns.

The funeral service celebrating the life of Mr. Harris will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street.

Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.

Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.

Surviving with his wife of 44 years are a daughter, Jennie (James) Troutman of Greenwood, Indiana; a sister, Sarah (William) Schurmann of Williamsburg, Virginia; two granddaughters, Julianna and Joelle Troutman, both of Greenwood, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews including Carol Epperson, Victor and Julia Schurmann, Diane Parker and Elaine, Neil and Charlotte Parrish.

Along with his parents, Mr. Harris was also preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Alan Harris; a nephew, Eric Schurmann; two sisters, Martha Jane Matthews and Dorothy Imogene Parrish; and a brother.
