Go Guide – August 6

You might not know her name, but if you have been on Washington Street anytime during the past year, you’ve seen Ruth Aizuss Migdal’s work. Her large, red abstract piece, “Flamenco,” graces the corner of Fourth and Washington streets. You can hear her talk about her work informally 6 p.m. Friday at the Columbus Area Visitors Center, 506 Fifth St. A meet-and-greet reception is planned for 5 p.m. Information: 812-376-2539.

I wouldn’t call myself cheap or even frugal, but I refuse to lay out hundreds of dollars for cable. For years, I’ve had a Roku that allows me to stream Internet programming on my TV. I’ll be taking plenty of notes during Mr. Noobie’s “How to Cut the Cable Cord and Stop Paying Hundreds for Television,” 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at the Bartholomew County Public Library’s Red Room, 536 Fifth St. Mr. Noobie will explain the options, including costs and pros and cons, for replacing cable or satellite.
