Wilma G. Cruser

Wilma G. Cruser, 95, of Greensburg, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Aspen Place Health Campus.

Born January 2, 1920, in Butlerville, she was the daughter of Harry and Fernanda (May) Goforth. She was raised in Butlerville and had been a Westport resident most of her life.

She had graduated from Butlerville High School in 1938 and Indiana Beauty College in Indianapolis. Wilma was a beautician for 28 years and also was a cook at South Decatur High School for 10 years. She was a member of Westport Baptist Church, where she had played the organ and taught a Primary Sunday School Class, a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star No. 183 at North Vernon, a member of the Entre Nous Club since 1942, and a member of Progressive Homemaker Extension Club.

She married Elvin E. Cruser December 22, 1940, in Butlerville. He preceded her in death December 17, 1999.

She is survived by her son, James E. (Patricia) Cruser of Westport; daughter, Melanie C. (Roger) Fuhrman of Madison; sister-in-law, Catherine Goforth of Clarksville; grandson, Caleb Cruser of Westport; granddaughters, Amy (Travis) Ward of Greensburg and Casandra (Mark) McCarthy of St. Louis, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Rylie Cruser, Conor McCarthy, Lily Ward and Nathan Ward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elvin E. Cruser; brothers, Harold and William Gofort; and a grandson, Joseph Ray Fuhrman.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with the Rev. David A. Scaggs officiating. Burial will be at the Westport Cemetery. Visitation will be today, August 11, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Westport Baptist Church or to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
