A three-day race relations series, in response to growing racial tensions across the country, begins tonight in Columbus. It is sponsored by the African-American Ministers Alliance.
Today’s event, “Alternative Realities,” begins at 7 p.m. in the Columbus North High School auditorium, 1400 25th St. Kendall Wright, an Ohio-based conference speaker and facilitator, will discuss how different realities can exist in one common place.
The “Spanning the Schism” workshop will run from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Columbus North cafeteria. Wright will lead the workshop, which is designed to facilitate discussions about race and inclusiveness in the city between local leaders and other citizens.
The series will conclude at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Columbus Calvary Community Church, 1031 Chestnut St. Wright will give the sermon, “My Crimson Tan,” which will encourage the audience to focus on the things that unite the community rather than divide it.
