Blown glass workshops set Sept. 11-12

Meltdown: Hot Blown Glass Workshops return to downtown Columbus Sept. 11 and 12. The Columbus Area Arts Council’s glass-forming workshops will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 11 and from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12 in front of The Commons at 300 Washington St.

A limited number of time slots will be available for reservation to the public. Participants will make glass paperweights with assistance from one of three glass artists. Cost is $25 each and must be paid in advance. Reservations may be made with a credit card by calling the arts council at 812-376-2539 or by stopping in the arts council office in The Commons.

Lisa Pelo of Hot Blown Glass studios in Clayton will offer residents the opportunity to create glass paperweights in workshops. The nine workshops are limited to five persons per session. Pelo and her assistants will also provide advanced glass working demonstrations between sessions.

This year’s Meltdown is held in conjunction with the Columbus ArtFest, highlighting the work of more than 100 local and regional artists Sept. 12 and 13.
