North girls basketball team having car wash

The defending Class 4A state champion Columbus North girls basketball team is holding a Crew Carwash fundraiser.

Players and managers will sell coupons through Sept. 29 for $8 that may be redeemed for a car wash at any of Crew Carwash’s central Indiana locations. The tickets have no expiration date.

Proceeds will benefit the team’s contribution to the cost of renovation to its locker room and meeting space, along with other team expenses for the 2015-16 season.

Flag football league needs women’s team

Columbus Flag Football is looking for another women’s team to complete its women’s league.

One of the four teams from last season isn’t returning, leaving only three teams. A fourth is needed to have a season.

Over-40 softball league registration underway

The Columbus Softball Association has spots available for its Fall Over-40 Softball League. Games will be played on Thursday nights.

Trailblazers, Girls on the Run set for fall season

Registration is open for Girls on the Run and Trailblazers’ fall season.

Youth will receive a running journal, water bottle, T-shirt, entry to a 5K race and a race medal. Cost is $40 if registered by Sept. 8. Practices begin the week of Sept. 8 and end with a 5K on Oct. 31.

Youth football players to be recognized at North

Columbus North’s Youth/Middle School Football Night will be Friday.

Players will be greeted at the team gate and will be welcome on the field before the game against Bloomington North. They also will be recognized at halftime.

Saturday Morning Sports Injury Clinic available

Southern Indiana Orthopedics will offer its Saturday Morning Sports Injury Clinic again this year from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturdays.

Junior golf tour event coming to Bloomington

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour will host a tournament Saturday and Sept. 6 at the Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington.

The tournament is open to golfers ages 11 to 18 and will be Junior Golf Scoreboard ranked events. HJGT members can play for $189, while nonmembers can play for $234.

American Legion group hosting scholarship event

Edinburgh Sons of the American Legion will host its annual scholarship golf tournament at 9 a.m. Sept. 13 at Timbergate Golf Course. The tournament is open to the first 36 teams to be paid by Sept. 6.

Cost is $260 per team and includes dinner and awards. Prizes will be given for the top three teams, closest to the pin and longest drive, as well as door prizes.

End of Summer Golf Bash benefits youth athletics

Foundation For Youth and PAAL will host an End of Summer Golf Bash to benefit youth athletics in Columbus at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Otter Creek Golf Course. Lunch is at 11:30 a.m.

Cost is $110 per individual or $420 per foursome and includes lunch, soft drinks, prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin, a hole-in-one contest and a gift for each golfer. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Small Ball Bash features coed, men’s tournaments

The Cole Weddle Scholarship Small Ball Bash will be Sept. 19 and 20 at Lincoln Park. The coed softball tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 19, and the men’s tourney will start at 9 a.m. Sept. 20.

Entry fee is $150 per team, and three games are guaranteed. The signup deadline is noon Sept. 17.
