Sheriff’s department looking for rest area vandals

Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies are seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects in a vandalism and theft at the Interstate 65 rest park north of Columbus.

Deputies said a male subject wearing a black jacket caused significant damage to the machines and stole money from them.

The other two suspects served as lookouts, deputies said.

The incident occurred July 23 between midnight and 5:30 a.m., deputies said. The suspects did an estimated $1,000 damage to the machines, but the amount of money that was taken is not being released, deputies said.
