Rated third in Class 4A high school football just a week earlier in the weekly Associated Press media and Indiana Football Coaches Association’s polls, Columbus East Olympians moved up to the No. 1 spot after the two teams ahead of them were beaten. It was the first time in 25 years the team achieved the top spot.

1990

Organizers announced plans for a free “hard hat” party and street dance featuring the big band sound of the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra to celebrate Streetscape, the renovation of downtown streets and sidewalks.

1965

Donner swimming pool closed its 18th season with a decrease in attendance, income and swim lesson enrollment, all attributed to weather more pleasant than the 90-plus degree readings that drove swimmers into the pool in 1964.
