Donald Lee Dean, 84, of Greensburg, passed away September 4, 2015.

Donald was the son of Franklin and Lillian Wiley Dean. He was raised in New Point and graduated from New Point High School in 1950. Donald joined the Navy and was on active duty from August 7, 1950, to May 21, 1954, serving on the Naval Ship USS Boxer.

Donald married Bertha Lou Powers on May 14, 1955, in New Point. They had three children; a daughter, Connie (Robert) Cathey of Westport, a son, Roland Dean whom preceded him in death and a son Frank (Peg) Dean of Westport.

Donald was retired from Cummins Engine Company. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren most of all. He enjoyed the farm and the animals. Hunting was one of his favorite things to do. He was a member of the Eagles and American Legion.

Also surviving with his two children are his grandchildren; Melissa (Scottie) Huff, Brenda (Scott) Christy, Kimberly (Robert) Hall, Michael (Laura) Cathey, Shelby Dean, Donnie Dean, Tracy Ruble, Bobby Best and JD Best; 27 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by a sister, Peggy (John) Redding; a brother, Gerald “Butch” Dean; and sister in law, Ruth Moore; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha; a son, Roland; parents, Franklin and Lillian; a sister, Delores Dean; father and mother-in-law, John and Marjorie Powers; and brother-in-laws, Russell Powers, Omer Powers and Lester Powers.

A visitation for family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015, with the Rev. Mark Vice officiating. Burial will follow at the Rossburg Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Greensburg VFW and American Legion. Memorial contributions can be made to Premier Hospice.
