Doggie Olympics planned at Tipton Lakes

Community Animal Rescue Effort will have the second annual Doggie Olympics on Saturday at Oakbrook Park in Tipton Lakes, just off Goeller Boulevard.

The event is Olympic-themed, with events for owners and their dogs and the competitions raising money for helping animals in the community.

Registration is at 10:30 a.m. with the games beginning at 11 a.m.

Events include the Straight Dash, Marathon Down, Dress ‘Em Up Relay, Land Retrieval, an Obstacle Course and Water Retrieval.

There will be two separate arenas to separate larger dogs from smaller dogs.

Event participation is $6 each or $25 for all six. For a $30 donation, participants may enter all six events and receive a commemorative Doggie Olympics T-shirt.

For those who prefer not to enter their dog in the competitive events, there are other activities including “Pupcasso,” in which dogs will paint a picture. A cleanup station will be available.

Other activities include Sneaker Sniffer and Bob for Hotdogs. These events are free, but donations will be accepted. All dogs must have an up-to-date rabies vaccination.

There will be a vendor village with information and refreshments.

An awards ceremony is planned for 2:30 to 3 p.m.
