A section of the People Trails was named John McCauley Trail in honor of the area resident who, even though confined to a wheelchair, was a faithful user of the system and single-handedly raised more than $10,000 during a fundraising effort to support extension of the trails.

1990

Jackson County Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour announced plans for a $19 million, two-year expansion project that would add 70,000 square feet, 175 beds, and new surgery center, emergency services area, radiology department and intensive cardiac care unit.

1965

The newly constructed Columbus Boys Club at 400 Cherry St. opened for business, ending an 18-year tenure at Fifth and Franklin streets. Donald Goodwin was director.
