NOMINATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR REPUBLIC’S ANNUAL COMMUNITY HONOR

Staff Reports

The deadline is Sunday to nominate a Bartholomew County woman for The Republic’s 34th annual Woman of the Year contest.

The contest was established to honor one Bartholomew County woman each year for unselfish contributions toward creating a vital community and a high quality of life and an emphasis on long-term activity, hands-on work and diverse involvement.

Nominations should include the nominator’s email address and telephone number; name and address of the nominee; and reasons why the nominee should be considered, including her involvement with civic groups or volunteer activities, and personal or professional accomplishments.

To start the nomination process, nominators can download the Woman of the Year application online at therepublic.com.

Click on the “Community” tab, then on “Woman of the Year,” then on a link that will allow you to fill in an electronic form.

People can also pick up a printed form at The Republic, 333 Second St., Columbus, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Nominations must be received by Sunday or postmarked before then. Nominations can be delivered or mailed to The Republic, 333 Second St., Columbus, IN 47201. They also can be emailed to [email protected].

The 34th annual Woman of the Year will be recognized during an Oct. 20 reception at Donner Center.

The winner will receive a custom-made necklace and $2,000 from The Republic to be designated to a charity or charities of the winner’s choice.

Last year’s winner, Merry Carmichael, founder of ABC-Stewart School, will place the necklace around the neck of the 2015 recipient.
