Thrive Alliance offers flu shot clinic, testing

Thrive Alliance is partnering with community agencies to provide free HIV and Hepatitis C testing and a flu shot clinic.

The event will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Eastside Community Center, 421 McClure Road.

Flu vaccines for adults and children will be provided by Walgreens pharmacy staff.

The vaccine is free to Medicare patients, and a $3 co-pay is required for Medicaid. Many insurance plans will cover flu shots, but individuals should check with their provider. Full-cost vaccines are $25.99.

For each vaccine given at the clinic, Walgreens will provide a free vaccine to a child in an underdeveloped country.

For children ages 7 to 10, parents will need to bring a prescription from the child’s doctor to receive the vaccine. For children age 11 and older, parental consent is required.

The HIV and Hepatitis C testing will be offered by Positive Link from IU Health in Bloomington. It is open to anyone regardless of income or residency.
