Bank wants customers to vote for schools

Old National Bank is participating in the Tools for Schools Grant program in which $19,000 will be awarded to schools in local communities.The first phase of the program was recently completed, a collection drive at Old National Bank banking centers. School supplies were collected to help 62 different organizations throughout Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky.

During September, Old National is asking customers to vote on oldnational.com for their favorite school to win a $1,000 Tools for Schools grant.

Click on oldnational.com/toolsforschools to vote. The company will grant 14 grants of $1,000 each, one in each of the bank’s regions.

In addition, if Old National hits 10,000 Facebook Likes by Sept. 30, the school with the most overall votes gets a $5,000 Tools for Schools grant.

BCSC seeks hall of fame nominations

Nominations are being accepted for the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. Education Hall of Fame.This is an opportunity to recognize a teacher, former teacher or administrator for outstanding service and contributions to the school corporation. The nominee must, at the time of employment, be a licensed teacher or administrator and must have worked for BCSC for a minimum of 15 years.

Nomination forms are available on the BCSC website at bcsc.k12.in.us or may be obtained by calling the superintendent’s office at 812-376-4220. Nominations will be accepted at the superintendent’s office at the administration building, 1200 Central Ave., until Nov. 1.

Honorees are chosen by a committee of five members made up of a teacher, administrator, parent, patron and board member. If not selected, a nomination is held and reviewed during the selection process for three years.

The recipient receives a commemorative plaque and a second plaque is placed in a school location of the recipient’s choice.
