Cecil Bryan Peck, 100, of North Vernon, passed the Glory Line on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Jennings Healthcare Center.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral & Cremation Service in North Vernon. Brother Glenn C. Peck will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.

Born June 10, 1915, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, Cecil was the son of the late Isaac Thomas Peck and Nancy Carolyn “Callie” Moore Peck. He and his brother-in-law and lifelong friend, Coleman Frederick, graduated from McKinney High School in Kentucky as co-valedictorians. On June 29, 1940, he married Catherine Lee Frederick in McKinney, Kentucky. She preceded him in death.

Cecil worked for the post office in Washington, D.C., and at a defense plant in Cincinnati. After moving his family to Indiana in 1947, he was a farmer, a 30-year employee of Cummins Engine Company, and a leader in the Commiskey Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, following the Cincinnati Reds and eating out with family and friends.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Connie Peck of Shawnee, Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Daryl Burns of California, Kentucky; son, Gary Lee Peck of North Vernon; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four sisters and five brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
