VOLLEYBALL

Hauser upsets Trinity

HOPE — After splitting the first two sets, Hauser pulled out the final two to claim a 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18 upset of Class A No. 10 Trinity Lutheran.

Brea Metz pounded 24 kills and six blocks, and Sydney Schoen had 29 digs and two aces to lead the Jets (19-1). Alana Owen recorded 39 assists, and Danielle Giles notched 29 digs.

Schoen added 10 kills and eight assists, and Metz contributed 20 digs and an ace. Maranda Knight had 12 kills and four blocks, Giles recorded three aces, Tannyr Davis notched four blocks and Owen served an ace.

Haylee Barker led the Cougars (10-8) with 10 kills and three aces. Hayley Carter notched 27 digs and an ace, while Anne Franke pounded nine kills and Taylor Reynolds had 16 digs.

North falls in four

MARTINSVILLE — Columbus North won the third set, but Martinsville regrouped in the fourth to finish off a 25-13, 26-24, 20-25, 25-18 victory.

Maliah Howard-Bass led the Bull Dogs (8-13) with eight kills, 12 assists and two aces. Hannah Weaver and Augustina Fainguersch each had two blocks, Mackenzie Rooks notched 20 digs and Grace Sonderman and Hannah Weaver each served two aces.

North’s Imani Guy pounded seven kills, and Fainguersch added four kills, and Hannah McKinney recorded 11 assists Maddy Sebahar had 14 digs, and Howard-Bass added 10 digs.

Columbus Christian wins

MADISON — Columbus Christian had little trouble in rolling to a 25-16, 25-12, 25-6 win at Madison Christian.

The Crusaders improved to 5-5.

Pirates sweep Cougars

GREENSBURG — Brooke Helms led South Decatur in every statistical category, but the Cougars fell to Greensburg 25-10, 25-9, 25-15.

Helms recorded four kills, seven assists, two blocks, eight digs and two aces for the Cougars (5-15). Delanie Diekhoff added three kills, three digs and an ace; and Zoey Nobbe had two kills, a block and two digs.

Cougars down Bull Dogs

Columbus North suffered its second 4-1 loss to 10th-ranked Bloomington North in less than a week.

Just as he did in Saturday’s Conference Indiana Tournament semifinals, Kevin Luo won his No. 2 singles match for the Bull Dogs (9-6). Luo beat Scott Bode 7-6 (7), 6-3.

Aditya Mantri fell to Mac Rogers 7-5, 6-0 at No. 1 singles; and Anay Gangal lost to Paul Dzubat 7-5, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. Nathan VanDeventer and Kevin Lin fell to Jory Shoup and Zach Wisen 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles; and Daniel Larken and Ammar Khaled lost to Mick Thompson and Christian Gettelfinger 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

Jets top Twisters

OLDENBURG — Hauser lost the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, but won the other three to claim a 3-2 victory at Oldenburg Academy.

Sam Meek beat Ian Dickey 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Jets. Luke Meier and Noah Miller downed Nathan Hubert and Jacob Preston 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles; and Alex Gross and Jacob Johnson topped Clay Hunger and Kristofer Hetze 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

Hauser’s Will Rose fell to Greg Schroeder 6-0, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. Avery Talent lost to Chase Hogg 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.

Eagles edge Lancers

EDINBURGH — Brown County won two singles matches an a doubles match to pull out a 3-2 victory at Edinburgh.

Cash Myers beat Kyle Pendleton 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles; Hunter Ellis downed Colton Henderson 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Austin Roush and Cole Smith topped Parker Bryant and Dalton Bieker 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles for the Eagles.

The Lancers’ Gavin Hancock beat Abe Oliver 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. Edinburgh’s Kinser Bryant and Anthony Weber downed Zion Bunge and Jesse Williams 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Spartans sweep Cougars

SEYMOUR — Southwestern (Shelby) won all five matches in straight sets to hand Trinity Lutheran a 5-0 loss.

Andrew Rodriguez fell 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles; Jonathan Keith lost 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Tanner Prewitt fell 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Cougars (3-12). Bailey Baker and Hunter Morgan lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles; and Pierce McCammon and Josiah Foster fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Jets tie Saints

INDIANAPOLIS — Hauser played to a 3-3 tie at Indianapolis Lutheran.

Joe Sweet netted two goals, and A.J. Titus scored the other for the Jets. Pete Trotter, Jaylin Prichard and Chase Conner had assists.

Hauser put 13 shots on goal to 11 for the Saints. Pete Trotter recorded six saves, while defender Jacob Hatton and A.J. Titus each had one save.

Seymour stops Shawe

MADISON — Seymour used goals from three different players to post a 3-0 win at Madison Shawe.

Korey White, Martin Sebastian and Kyle Jones scored goals for the Owls (9-4-1). Renato Castillo and Daniel Hartman had assists.

Seymour outshot the Hilltoppers 8-2. Elliott Clark recorded two saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

Warriors down Eagles

WHITELAND — Whiteland jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead and went on to hand Brown County a 7-1 loss.

Maddy Fields scored the lone goal for the Eagles off an assist from Kaitlyn Spires. Skyler Fleischman recorded six saves.

Cougars down Northwest

INDIANAPOLIS — Maddie Roark netted three goals to lead Trinity Lutheran to a 3-1 win at Indianapolis Northwest.

The Cougars (6-6) outshot the Space Pioneers 18-1. Piper Acton recorded three saves.
