A good Oktoberfest celebration signals the return of autumn. For me, nothing kicks fall off like this traditional German harvest celebration, so I’m headed to the Seymour Oktoberfest, today through Saturday, in downtown Seymour, Chestnut and Second streets. Featuring food, biergarten, parade, vendors and entertainment, the Oktoberfest has free admission. Information: 812-522-4020.

Utopia Wildlife Rehabilitators is responsible for helping countless birds and other wild animals as well as educating many humans along the way. Head to the organization’s open house, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at the Utopia facility, 18300 E. County Road 200N, Hope. You’ll get to see Loki the Bald Eagle, Roswell the Barn Owl, Cloud the Coyote and other animal friends. Also enjoy food and drink, listen to music by Roger Banister and Denise Kocur from noon to 1 p.m. and participate in a silent auction. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
