Brian’s picks

1) Edgar Allan Poe’s classic works present a rhythm and cadence that first fascinated me as a high school sophomore — and enhances my admiration today. So I’m curious to hear Indianapolis’ John Richard Luther II present his free “Poe Alive” readings at 7 p.m. Monday at the Red Room of the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St. in Columbus. He will include pieces such as “The Raven” and others. Information: 812-379-1266 or mybcpl.org.

2) Time For Three’s exuberance seems to match its excellence, whether the nationally touring string trio is interpreting Katy Perry or covering classical music. You have two chances to see the energetic group that formed in Philadelphia 15 years ago. A solo concert is at 7:30 p.m. today at The Commons, 300 Washington St. An orchestral concert is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Judson Erne Auditorium, 1400 25th St. Tickets for today are $15 and $30, and $15 to $50 Saturday. Information: 812-376-2638, ext. 110, or thecip.org.
