East JV team rolls to victory

Ben Clancy and Jaiden Miller each ran for two touchdowns to lead the Columbus East junior varsity football team to a 47-0 rout of Jeffersonville.

Miller scored on runs of 3 and 5 yards, and Clancy added touchdown runs of 10 and 20 yards.

Charlie Burton ran 35 yards for score and caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Thomas Myers. Seth Turner returned a blocked punt 20 yards for the Olympians’ other score.

J.J. Stanibrook kicked five extra points for East (6-2). Zach O’Connor had an interception, and Ben Jenkins recovered a fumble.

North JV blanks Panthers

Jaylon Flemmons ran for two touchdowns and threw for another to lead the Columbus North JV to a 27-0 win at Bloomington South.

Flemmons scored on runs of 2 and 26 yards and threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Triston Bailey. Wesley Barkes ran 4 yards for the Bull Dogs’ other score.

North freshmen fall

The Columbus North freshmen led Bloomington South 7-6 at halftime, but the Panthers rallied for a 20-13 win.

D’Andre Scruggs scored on a 9-yard run and caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Trenton Kelley. Edgar Garcia kicked an extra point.

Konnor Stahl and Michael Johnson had tackles for losses for the Bull Dogs (6-1-1).

BOWLING

Bowler earns double

Joe Riherd rolled the high game (267) and series (712) in the Tuesday Night Men’s League.

Niles Lauderbaugh had the second-high game with a 259, while Rick Wilson Jr. was third (258). Chris Gray edged Brandon Bennett 694-693 for the second-high series.

Clifty Creek Golf Course rolled the high team game (1,246) and series (3,509). Independents had the second-high game (1,224), while Exception to Rule 3 was third (1,217). Poynter Chevrolet had the second-high series (3,503), and Whitt’s Construction was third (3,489).

Exception to Rule 3 leads the standings at 40-8. Independents and Whitt’s Construction are tied for second at 34-14.

In the Monday Night Church League, Charlie Miller rolled the high game (239), followed by Vern Phillips (236), Tony Shall (235), Steve Franklin (231) and Chad Lofton (229). Vern Phillips had the high series (662), followed by Steve Phillips (644), Franklin (642), Lofton (630) and Miller (618).

First Presbyterian, Grayford Road Church and Nashville Christian are tied for first in the standings at 28-12. St. Peters I is fourth at 26-14, and St. Peters II is fifth at 22-18.

Courtney Barker rolled the women’s high game (254) and tied with Lori Simpson for the women’s high series (542) in the Sunday Night Mixed League. Ashlynn Branum and the second-high women’s game (211), while Brandy Wilson had the third-high women’s game (209) and series (523).

Rick Wilson Jr. rolled the men’s high game (266), followed by Luther Johnson (247) and Kevin Branum (239). Chris Davis edged Wilson Jr. 678-676 for the men’s high series, while Thomas Wilson was third (668).

Who? leads the standings at 26-14. Lawyer Excavation and Can’t Believe It’s Not a Gutter are tied for second at 24-16.

In the Senior Men’s League, Jim Fields had the high scratch game (236), followed by Vern Phillips (232), Rob Smith (222), John Morris (215) and Ken Winkle (215). Smith had the high series (611), followed by Vern Phillips (607) and Morris (596).

Alley Cats rolled the team high handicap series (2,902), followed by Hawks (2,844) and Pumas (2,824). Falcons lead the standings at 51-13, while Alley Cats are 44-20 and Tigers are 37-27.
