Gerald E. Mote, 79, of Columbus, formerly of Hope,passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Four Seasons Retirement Center.

He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1993. He was a Senior Umpire and in Umpires-In-Chief State of Indiana from 1976-1986, served in the Air Force Reserves from 1958-1963 and was in the Air Police. Gerlad also attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

He loved playing cards, was a huge Colts fan and loved spending time with his family.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Father Andy Syberg officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. There will be a military graveside service conducted by the Bartholomew County Veteran’s Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Born December 6, 1935 in Decatur County, Gerald was the son of Carl Mote and Alice Hunter Mote Emerick. He married Ann Lee December 14, 1968 and she preceded him in death June 18, 1998.

He is survived by his fiance’, Martha Bell, of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Alice, and his wife, Ann.
