Toyota helping out North girls basketball team

A local manufacturer is chipping in to help the Columbus North High School girls’ basketball team get a new locker room and meeting space.

As part of its celebration of its 25th year in Columbus, Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., 5559 Inwood Drive, is donating $5,000 to the basketball program for its new spaces.

The team has been trying to raise money by selling coupons to central Indiana Crew Carwash locations for $8 each. That money will be used for the locker room renovation, as well as to other team expenses for the 2015-16 season.

Toyota also pledged an undisclosed amount of funding for the city’s first indoor soccer complex as part of its 25th anniversary celebration. The company will pay the majority of the cost to build the complex, estimated to be $750,000 to $1 million.
