Jennings County volleyball team eliminated in sectional

Panthers fall in four

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County won the first set Thursday night, but Jeffersonville rallied for a 18-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-21.

Sydney Brown recorded 11 kills, Carissa Kinney recorded 33 assists, Emma McPeek had four blocks, Rayann Mull notched 16 digs and Karlee Madinger served four aces to lead the Panthers (8-25). Denza Simpson added six kills and three blocks, and Krystal Wilson had 15 digs.

“Tonight, we finally came together as a team,” Jennings coach Susan Kinney said. “We probably played better tonight as a team than we have the whole year. They picked each other up.”

Lancers win opener

INDIANAPOLIS — Edinburgh opened Indianapolis Lutheran Sectional action with a 25-12, 25-12, 25-6 win against Central Christian Academy.

The Lancers (24-9) will play Indianapolis Lutheran in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Cougars sweep Senators

ORLEANS — Trinity Lutheran rolled to a 25-16, 25-10, 25-8 win against West Washington in the opening round of the Orleans Sectional.

Abby Hackman pounded nine kills, Hayley Carter had 16 digs and Courtney Barker served two aces to lead the Cougars (19-9). Haylee Barker added six kills, and Hailley Peters had five kills.

Trinity will play Crothersville in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Saturday.
