Volleyball club hosting open gyms at Ceraland

East Columbus Volleyball Club will conduct open gyms Tuesdays through Nov. 17 at Ceraland. Grades 3 through 5 will play from 4:30 to 6 p.m., and Grades 6 through 8 will play from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m.

Soccer program available to those with disabilities

Columbus East senior Andrew Thomasson is hosting TOPSoccer, a free, community-based training and team placement program for athletes with disabilities. The final session will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.

The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to players 8 and older who have a mental or physical disability. Before participating, players or their parents must fill out a registration form, which can be found at columbusexpress.com under Programs and TOPSoccer.

Author to discuss ‘Pudge’ at library

Columbus author Doug Wilson will talk about his latest book, “Pudge: The Biography of Carlton Fisk” at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Bartholomew County Public Library’s Red Room.

Copies of Wilson’s book will be available for purchase from Viewpoint Books.

Columbus East golf teams to host Chili-Dip

The Columbus East boys and girls golf teams will host the Chili-Dip Open at 11 a.m. Nov. 7 at Otter Creek Golf Course.

Cost is $50 per person and includes greens fees, cart, chili and other goodies, with proceeds going toward golf instruction and to pay for uniforms, golf bags and other expenses for the East boys and girls teams.

Lacrosse program looking for coaches

The Columbus lacrosse program plans to add an elementary team, a girls team and a second high school team next year and is looking for coaches. The program also is creating a winter and summer club team.
