Helen Marie Wynn, 96, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away at 4:55 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at the Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus.

Mrs. Wynn was born on Aug. 23, 1919, in North Vernon, the daughter of Charles E. and Nettie E. (Wolfinger) Bennett. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1940.

During WW2 she worked at Arvin’s. She retired as a cook from South Decatur High School. She had lived most of her life in Westport and attended the Fredonia Community Church. She enjoyed her cats, crafts, gardening and spending time with her daughter and family.

She married Lowell F. Wynn in Scottsburg on March 29, 1941. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2000.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa A. (Jeff) Shonk of Columbus; her two step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sisters, Violet Roberts, Glenna and Edith Bennett; and her brother, Raymond Bennett.

The family will hold a celebration of life gathering at a later date. There will be no public visitation or funeral service, but a private burial will take place at the Westport Cemetery. The Bass & Gasper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
