Shirley Joann Adams

Columbus

Shirley Joann Adams of Columbus, was freed from her earthly body and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 7, 2015.

She was born in Bartholomew County on May 10, 1943, the second child of Lloyd and Opal Woods.

Shirley was a woman with a big, tender heart who always thought of others and how she could be a blessing to them. She was especially compassionate toward “the least of these,” from the smallest child to stray dogs in the street. Her infectious, fun-loving spirit drew others to her and she could be counted on for a good laugh with a witty comment or one of her funny songs, often sung in a silly voice.

She was a member of Reformed Presbyterian Church of Columbus, where she attended services for almost 30 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Amy Limbert and her husband, Donny, and Jill Goble and her husband, Gary; her grandchildren, Hannah Rivera and her husband, JC, Jeremy Limbert, Jonah Limbert, Grace Rogers and her husband, Johnathan, Noah Goble, and Sam Goble; three great-grandchildren, Finn, Charlie, and Eliana Rivera; her mother, Opal (Woods) Enochs; and her sisters, Beverly Woods and Lana Reinhard.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 39 years, Donn Robert Adams. Not a day has gone by since his passing nearly 14 years ago that Shirley has not longed to be reunited with him.

A graveside service will be held in the Garden of Gethsemane at Garland Brook Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 12. Pastor Andy McCracken will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
