Film writer, director at YES for weekend

The director of the movie “The Price,” starring longtime country singer Randy Travis and upstart country artist James Dupre, will visit Columbus’ YES Cinema.

Kim Hughes of Cleburne, Texas, who also wrote the script for the flick that focuses on a forgiveness theme, will appear Saturday, Sunday and Monday at YES to talk with audiences and answer questions.

Travis plays a fictional singer and country legend named Roy Taggert, who has wanted nothing to do with his only and illegitimate son Jonah — played by Dupre — while he was growing up. So the young man greatly resents his father.

Hughes mentioned recently that she hoped to bring Dupre — who has appeared on television’s “The Voice” — with her to the film’s showings. Initially, she will attend the 6:01 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday showings.
