Mary M. Vanderpohl, 91, Greensburg, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born December 18, 1923, in Harrison, Ohio, she was the daughter of Elmer and Elizabeth (Hoerst) Roell.

She worked at the Cabin Club in Greensburg, then was the kitchen manager for five years at North Lincoln Village. She then worked at Stone’s Restaurant in Millhousen.

Mary was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary and Millhousen Fire Department Auxiliary.

She was married to Irvin J. Vanderpohl on August 10, 1946 in Harrison, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on September 8, 2003.

She is survived by three sons, Irvin (Shirley) Vanderpohl Jr. of Seymour, Thomas (Bernice) Vanderpohl of Laurel and Paul (Nancy) Vanderpohl of Greensburg; four daughters, Rita (Doug) Cox of Napoleon, Theresa Koester of Columbus, Bernice (Charles) Cook of New Point and Kate (Fred) Fry of Greensburg; two sisters, Ruth Huguenard of Batesville and Sr. Bernice Roell OSF; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Jerome Roell, Earl Roell, Leo Roell, Robert Roell and Lawrence Roell; and two sisters, Loretta Blankman and Hilda Roell.

Family and friends will gather at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg to pray the Rosary. Visitation will follow the Rosary until 4 p.m. 

Visitation will also be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at the church, with the Rev. Bill Turner officiating.

Interment will be held in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Sisters of St. Francis.
