Frank Herschel Meyer, 91, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015. Frank was born July 23, 1924, in Waymansville, Indiana, the son of Frank H. and Charlotte E. (Dietrich) Meyer. He was married to Anna Florene Greathouse on September 28, 1952, in Columbus. She passed away in 2003.

Frank was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army with the 13th Airborne Division deployed to Europe. After the war, Frank started at Cummins Engine Company where he worked for more than 35 years before retiring in 1989. He was also a lifelong farmer.

Frank was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Jonesville where he was active for many years. He enjoyed playing in the church dart ball league and was a longtime member of Columbus Woodcarving Club. Frank also loved the outdoors, whether it was mushroom hunting or his annual fishing trips to Canada.

He is survived by his son, Dwight Meyer; daughters, Sue (Curt) Barringer and Charlotte (Ron) Elkins; granddaughters, Catherine Barringer, Jessica (Josh) Perry, Leah Elkins and Morgan Elkins; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Marshall; and sister, Teresa Nelesen.

His parents; his wife; a brother, Clyde Meyer; and a sister, Dorothy King, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Jonesville with the Rev. Edgar Keinath and the Rev. Matt Jung officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.

Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Jonesville.

Memorials can be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Trinity Lutheran High School.
