With food and financial donations down about 40 percent in November at area outreach agencies such as Human Services and Love Chapel, officials, who believed local giving to hurricane victims was the cause, breathed a sigh of relief when donors stepped up with increased monetary contributions. However, food pantry shelves remained nearly empty.

1990

A steady stream of people, young and old, carried candles as they made their way from The Commons to Columbus City Hall for the annual lighting of the community Christmas tree, all part of the Festival of Lights celebration.

1965

Sixteen Columbus High School clubs made Thanksgiving baskets for area families that would otherwise be unable to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
