North Vernon man arrested after search warrant on drug charges

A North Vernon man was arrested on a drug charge after police executed a search warrant at his home.

David W. Uberin, 58, was arrested for possession of a legend drug without a valid prescription, a Level 6 felony.

North Vernon Police Department officers served the search warrant at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday after several weeks of investigation by officer Isaac Barkes produced enough evidence based on alleged drug activity at the home to obtain the search warrant, said Sgt. Andrew Richmond, North Vernon Police Department public information officer.

Officers discovered several capsules of a non-controlled prescription medication not contained in a labeled prescription container, and a small plastic bag with white residue, Richmond said. A drug analysis of the contents of the plastic bag is pending, he said.
