Woman trapped in car after accident sent to Indy hospital

A Seymour woman was listed in critical condition at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a single-car accident in the 9000 block of County Road 850S.

Bartholomew County sheriff’s deputies said Debra Posey, 58, was trapped inside her vehicle after the accident at about 8 a.m. Tuesday.

It took about 20 minutes for Columbus firefighters to remove Posey from the vehicle, deputies said.

She was then taken to Columbus Regional Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to Methodist because of her injuries, Deputy Nick Martoccia said.

Posey’s condition status was as of 3 p.m. Tuesday, hospital spokesman Gene Ford said.

Sheriff deputies said Posey had been traveling east on County Road 850S, east of County Road 450E, when she ran off the roadway causing her to cross over into the westbound lane of 850S.

Posey then overcorrected and crossed back into the eastbound lane before running off the roadway and hitting a tree, deputies said.
