The parent company for Diamet Corp. in Columbus merged with another powder metallurgical company, creating a larger operation with a new name, PMG Indiana Corp. The company planned no changes in workforce.

1990

Bartholomew County Commissioners approved architect fees totaling as much as $100,000 for design work on tearing down the old county jail and landscaping the courthouse over the objections of chairwoman Juanita Harden, who said the fee was excessive. The jail was built in 1962 at a cost of $465,525.

1965

Red kegs on tripod legs appeared outside several shopping areas in Columbus to hold donations to the Christmas Cheer Fund.
