Lola B. Waltz, 91, of Columbus, passed from this life at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mrs. Waltz was born January 27, 1924, in Shelby County, the daughter of Samuel and Cora Ruthford Gobel. She married John D. Waltz September 27, 1941. He preceded her in death September 18, 2007.

A homemaker, Mrs. Waltz retired from C.P. Electronics after 21 years of service.

She was a faithful member of East Columbus United Methodist Church. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, doing crafts, and she was a great cook.

Survivors include her daughters, Lois (Theron D.) Mires of Elizabethtown and Phyllis (Ronald) Byrnes of Columbus; grandchildren, Melinda (David) Foust of Columbus, Lisa (Brian) Adams of Columbus, Theron L. (Jill) Mires of Madison and Leah Byrnes of Southport; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-granddaughters; two great-great grandsons; brother, Paul Gobel of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Waltz was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and 12 brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at East Columbus United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Aigner officiating.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
