Museum plans Christmas open house

The Hayden Historical Museum, 6715 W. County Road 20S, will host a Christmas open house from 1 to 4 p.m. today.

The museum, old gas station and the “A Place Called Yesterday” exhibit will be decorated for the Christmas season. Lester Tracy will plays Christmas music on antique musical instruments.

The museum’s exhibit area will include a living room set in 1965, featuring an aluminum Christmas tree and old Christmas TV shows playing on a black-and-white TV set.

Several surplus antique records and albums will be in the museum’s library during the open house. These are available in exchange for a donation.

Homemade soups and snacks will be served in the meeting room. Diners can watch a video of Bob Hope Christmas programs when he entertained the U.S. servicemen down through the years.

Visitors will not be charged admission but are encouraged to consider making a donation to the museum. All proceeds go to the restoration and preservation of the home of former Indiana Gov. Edgar Whitcomb.
